Release Notes: Version v0.2.0

extension Latest

May 26, 2026

Highlights

Free weekly Premium trial lets everyone try the full feature set without signup, and a true always-on-top Document Picture-in-Picture window now ships with a default Alt+Shift+P (Cmd+Shift+P on macOS) shortcut.

New

  • Free weekly Premium trial — 5 hours of playback and 3 exports per week, resets every Monday. No signup, no card. Visual sparkles across the UI show what you're using on trial vs. what's locked, with a live "back in 3d 4h" countdown when the trial runs out.
  • Document Picture-in-Picture — open a real floating, always-on-top player with Alt+Shift+P (Cmd+Shift+P on macOS). Falls back to a regular popup window when the active tab can't host PiP (chrome:// pages, etc.).
  • Last-played radio station persists across sessions, and the Now Playing card shows a sensible default station on first launch instead of "Select a station."
  • Lo-Fi Cover mode and a richer generator are now available in Upload, with free-tier gating across the catalog.
  • Free radio tier expanded to 9 stations.

Improvements

  • Trial-aware paywall copy in Settings — clear framing on what the trial unlocks and when it resets. New Manage link goes straight to the customer portal.
  • Audio fades gracefully when the trial runs out mid-listening, instead of cutting to silence.
  • Manage Plan in Settings opens a personalized customer-portal session for your account.
  • License validation errors now report what specifically went wrong (missing configuration, invalid key, server error) instead of always saying "Invalid license key."
  • Packs subview in Upload mode, alongside Quick FX and Lo-Fi Cover.
  • Tighter spacing on the Now Playing, Radio, and Visualizer cards; visualizer canvas slightly taller so it matches the Now Playing card height.
  • Saved-preset empty state and long station names lay out cleanly with the rest of the row.

Fixes

  • Tab audio metadata populates immediately when you open the popup against an already-paused tab (was showing empty defaults).
  • Upload preview audio plays again — Quick FX and Lo-Fi Cover preview was silent due to a binary-buffer serialization issue between the popup and the offscreen document.
  • Audio volume restores after fade-out — previously a sleep-timer or trial-exhaustion fade could leave the next playback silent until you restarted the browser.
  • Popup layout is more stable — locked to a fixed size so overlays can't shrink it, and no layout shift when scrollbars appear.

Highlights

Free weekly Premium trial lets everyone try the full feature set without signup. macOS now-playing for browser-captured audio works end-to-end again after Apple's 15.4 lockdown.

New

  • Free weekly Premium trial — 5 hours of playback and 3 exports per week, resets every Monday. No signup, no card. Visual sparkles across the UI show what you're using on trial vs. what's locked, with a live "back in 3d 4h" countdown when the trial runs out.
  • System audio now-playing on macOS — title, artist, artwork, and transport controls return for Chromium-based browsers and other apps that previously showed only "Live." Three-tier fallback keeps it working across macOS versions.

  • Trial banner is draggable like the rest of the desktop window header.
  • Tighter spacing on the Now Playing, Radio, and Visualizer cards; visualizer canvas slightly taller so it matches the Now Playing card height.
  • Saved-preset empty state and long station names lay out cleanly with the rest of the row.

Fixes

  • Audio volume restores after fade-out — previously a sleep-timer or trial-exhaustion fade could leave the next playback silent until you restarted the app.
  • Upload preview plays on desktop again (was silent due to a WKWebView autoplay-timing issue).
  • No layout shift when scrollbars appear.
  • Linux/Windows builds no longer break trying to resolve macOS-only resources.

Release Notes: Version v0.3.6

desktop

April 15, 2026

Highlights

License management on desktop is more reliable end-to-end: clearer errors when validation fails, and Manage Plan now opens a personalized customer-portal session.

New

  • Packs subview in Upload mode, alongside Quick FX and Lo-Fi Cover.

Improvements

  • Manage Plan in Settings opens a personalized customer-portal session for your account instead of the generic portal link.
  • License validation errors now report what specifically went wrong (missing configuration, invalid key, server error) instead of always saying "Invalid license key."

Fixes

  • License validation works reliably on desktop through Tauri's HTTP layer (was failing on CORS in some environments).
  • macOS Login Items shows LoveLofi instead of "app" when you set the app to launch at login.

Release Notes: Version v0.1.1

extension

April 14, 2026

First public release

LoveLofi is now available on the Chrome Web Store. The extension turns any browser tab into a lo-fi listening station — stream curated radio, apply real-time audio effects to any tab's audio, mix in ambient sounds, and run focus sessions, all from a single popup that lives next to your address bar.

What's inside

  • Lo-fi radio player with curated stations across hip-hop, chillhop, jazz, and ambient
  • Real-time audio effects — low-pass, reverb, vinyl crackle, and more — applied in an offscreen Web Audio document
  • Tab audio capture — apply the same effects to any browser tab's audio (YouTube, Spotify Web, anything that plays)
  • Ambient sound mixer for layered rain, cafe, and other backgrounds
  • Pomodoro timer for focus sessions
  • Audio visualizer synced to whatever's playing
  • Custom presets and stations persisted across devices via Chrome sync
  • Themes to match your browser's vibe

Install from the Chrome Web Store.

Release Notes: Version v0.3.4

desktop

April 8, 2026

Highlights

The desktop window can now detach from the tray and float freely wherever you want it.

New

  • Drag-to-detach window. Drag the window off its anchored position to place it anywhere on screen — it stays open without auto-hiding. Click the tray icon to snap it back under the tray and resume always-on-top + auto-hide behavior. The toggle shortcut respects the detach state, and the header has a grab cursor to hint at the drag zone.

Improvements

  • External links (checkout, etc.) open in your system browser instead of inside the app window.
  • Updated Discord invite link.

Release Notes: Version v0.3.3

desktop

April 6, 2026

First public release

LoveLofi Desktop brings the LoveLofi listening experience to a native menu-bar app on macOS, Windows, and Linux. All the core features from the browser extension — lo-fi radio, real-time audio effects, ambient sounds, and focus tools — now run in a dedicated app that lives in your tray and stays out of your way.
